Sprecher Root Beer Makes it to the White House
23rd June 2009
No kidding! On Saturday President Obama stopped by The Dairy Godmother in Fairfax, Virginia with daughters Malia and Sasha and his requisite cadre of bodyguards. Owned by Waukesha native Liz Davis, the store sells frozen custard and other wonderful things from Wisconsin, including Sprecher Root Beer. According to an article in the Milwaukee Journal today (www.jsonline.com), while the president and his daughters indulged in frozen custard “Obama’s personal aide Reggie Love bought a four pack of Sprecher Root Beer.”

I always used to say “Why can’t someone come up with a soda that has a modest number of calories with some natural and some artificial sweetener”. Then my wife brought home some Lo-Cal root beer by mistake (she never buys diet pop). After 1 bottle, I was hooked. It tastes great with some natural sweeteners and only has 30 calories per 16 ounces. And the saccharine it has in it has been shown to be quite harmless. Now, I can not stand regular pop as it tastes much too sweet. Sprecher Lo-Cal root beer is now part of my overall effort to reduce my sugar intake – I have a blog post about this at http://www.sciaticabackpainrelief.com/health/diets/sugar-substitutes/ I hope you left President Obama some of your Lo-Cal!
